Nuevo Arenal

Nuevo Arenal is a small hamlet to the north of the lake that is the meeting point for many of the region’s natural attractions to inspire your outdoor Arenal activities. The most conspicuous of these unique natural exhibitions is the Arenal volcano, one of the greatest active volcanoes worldwide.

This massive phenomenon provides the dual attraction of lava flows from 1992 that continue to release steam and the drama of contemporary lava displays, glowing visibly from many corners of Nuevo Arenal at night. Take a night hike through the magnificent Arenal Volcano National Park, one of the more popular Arenal activities after dark. It is an activity known to be equally stimulating during the daytime. Keep an eye out for your friendly neighbors unwinding in the treetops: howler monkeys, parrots, toucans, coatis, sloths and white faced monkeys.

Anyone looking for a relaxing and culturally enriching place in which to retire, relocate or simply invest would do well to consider moving to Lake Arenal, a majestic territory in Guanacaste, Costa Rica that combines gorgeous landscape, colorful wildlife and the natural variety of waterfalls, caves, a volcano and last but far from least, the lake itself. This fresh, massive body of water was enlarged in the 1970s to facilitate a hydroelectric energy shift and in doing so was crafted into a lake that has a variety of pockets of calm water in the form of coves and wide open spaces perfect alternatively for windsurfing and fishing, two of the more popular Arenal activities.

The lake is well stocked with over ten species of fish, particularly rainbow bass. The wondrously lush beauty of the Nuevo Arenal area in particular attracts eco tourism and all around nature lovers. The combination of foothills and pastures surrounding the stunning Lake Arenal all at the base of the Arenal Volcano is unparalleled anywhere else in the world.
